This section contains tools used to assist in describing and displaying the capacity flows with in an acute ward, the capabilites required of acute pathway staff and rota systems used to allow for that capability and capacity to be available when most required. A subset of this file looks at Staff roles and the Changing Workforce.

| Title: In-Patient Ward Establishment Published: March 2004 Summary: Determining nurse establishment and grade mix in psychiatric in-patient wards. This paper proposes an approach that can be used to determine or evolve a nursing establishment and recommends allowances for paid "time out". It also offers guidance concerning grade mix, skill mix, the balance of staff within the inpatient nursing team, the therapeutic conditions on the ward and suggests clinical outcome measures. |
